Have You Considered A Camping Tent For Your Truck

by Gregg Hall

Truck tents are becoming more and more popular everywhere from West Coast to the East Coast and all the cities in between. Most stores are selling out of truck tents. Truck tents are a great way to incorporate the extra space from the back of the truck as your own personal camping area. For the price of a regular hotel you can purchase your own tents that will last for several years. These tents are easy to put up anything used almost anywhere in less than 20 minutes.

Sleeping outside is always a fun way to spend family time why not use the bed of your truck as your tent you will be surprised at how easy a truck tent is. You can also purchase an air mattress to use in your truck tent, then you'll be off the ground and sleeping on a comfortable mattress. These types of tents are very new but they are growing in popularity every day.

There are two major types of truck tents; one that has its own floor and one without floors. If you choose a tent that has a sewn in floor you will have to take out everything from the bed of your truck before you can put the tent up. If you purchase a tent without floors, then you can leave your gear in the truck while you set up the tent.

Some companies that sell truck tents will recommend that you face the truck a certain direction when camping. Usually the manufacturers will recommend that the front of the truck is facing into the wind. If you do decide to face your truck into the wind you may notice that it will help keep the rain out of your truck or tent. Many of the higher and truck tents are tight enough that it does not matter which way you face your vehicle.

Another major difference between truck tents is the type of polls that are used. Some manufacturers give tent poles that are color coded so they are a lot easier to install. For the tents that do not come with color coded tent poles many people do adjust to this and learn quickly how to install their truck tent correctly. Another downside to the variety of tent poles is that some tent poles actually require you to crawl inside the tent in order to put the tent up.

If you enjoy camping and you own a truck you should definitely try a truck tent. They are great way to enjoy the outdoors while sleeping off of the ground. Because you're sleeping off of the ground you're less likely to get wet from the ground. Also the sides of the truck offer you more protection from the wind and cold and you may find that you are warmer in a truck tent than you would be an irregular tent. Truck tents are a great new way for families and couples to enjoy the great outdoors together they do not cost very much money and you can find tents to fit almost every model of vehicle. The next time you are thinking about buying a new tent consider buying a truck tent.

About the Author

Gregg Hall is an author living in Navarre Beach Florida.
How To Choose A High Performance Fuel Injection Kit For Your Truck

by Gregg Hall

The price of gas is starting to get more and more expensive as the price of gas goes up many people are looking for accessories to add to their truck in order to improve their gas mileage. There are not very many accessories that can really help your gas mileage but many people are starting to look into ways to increase their power using cold air intake systems.

High-performance cold air intake systems help engines run on the air by trapping and filtering the air as it comes into the engine. Most regular fuel injected vehicles have a filter that is not a space mounted filter on top of the engine like of the carburetors of cars and trucks do. With a cold air intake system there is usually some kind of divider that separates how the air filters and enters into the engine. These intake systems provide cold air coming through the grill of the truck this is a more appealing option than grabbing warm air from under the hood. Because cold air is more dance it is better for your fuel injector and willing hands the horsepower of your truck.

You can purchase performance kits that include all the hardware you will need to install your cold air intake system. Actually installing the system may not take very long for somebody who knows what they're doing; a skilled mechanic should be able to complete the task in only a couple of hours.

When your system has been installed you may actually hear the air as it enters the filter. When you are going slow you may only here a small noise, but as you start going faster you will hear a much louder roaring. Most people who have a cold air intake system actually think this roaring is a pretty cool sound and do not find it very annoying.

Many manufacturers claim that by using a cold air intake system you'll actually get better gas mileage with your truck. But unfortunately there's not any hard documentation to prove this fact. So for now the only reason for installing a system like this is because they are better for your engine and if you like the cool roaring noise that you get when going fast.

If you are not a mechanic and still would like to get a cold air intake system try visiting your local mechanic and asking them if they think it would be a good fit for your truck. You might also want to check out and see if anybody else has a cold air intake system already on their truck that you could possibly take a look at or hear about for having one installed on your truck.

With the increasing price of gas any little thing that you do to help save gas and save you money is a great idea. Although the cold air intake system is not proven to reduce gas mileage many people have done their own experiments with it and asked down that they do get better gas mileage with this type of system installed on their truck.

About the Author

Gregg Hall is an author living in Navarre Beach Florida.
Keep Your Truck Grill Looking Like New And Make It Last Longer By Keeping It Polished

by Gregg Hall

We all like the look of a shiny truck grill, but when was the last time you paid any attention to yours? Most of us hardly have time to make sure our grill is looking good, we simply wash our truck and that is about it. We constantly put off taking care of our grill all spring and summer. But not taking care of your grill is really a disservice to your truck. By just taking a few minutes to care for your grill you can keep it shining and looking good for many years to come.

Has it oxidized beyond the point of recognition? Do you want to see your face when you walk in front of your truck? Check out these tips, and before you know it, your grill will be shining like the day you put it together.

Getting Started

First, clean your grill properly. Dust away the surface contaminates or debris. If you can eliminate dirt, grease, and grime, your polishing experience will go much more smoothly. Utilize hot, soapy water for the initial cleaning, and then once you've dried the grill, shoot it up with some degreaser. This should break up the nasty buildup you've been watching for so long. Then dry it again. Most trucks will have quiet a build up on the grill so this may take a little work.

Getting it Really Clean

Break out the elbow grease for this step, because you'll need it. It's the most important step to getting a great shine to our billet grill. In the end, the effort will be worth the results.

First, wet sand your grill with a 320 grit wet sandpaper. Keep the sandpaper and grill wet constantly during the sanding process. You shouldn't have to apply too much pressure. In fact, avoid too much pressure. Apply just enough to scuff the grill up. Keep your pressure even to produce an even sand. You should leave noticeable scratches in the aluminum. Don't worry about them, though: they will come out in the next process.

After the 320 grit wet sandpaper, break out the 400 grit paper, and then the 600 grit paper, going through the same process with each one. Throughout this process you will notice the aluminum becoming smoother and shinier. With the higher grit sandpaper your scratches will become less noticeable.

End the sanding step with 1000 grit wet sandpaper. This will get rid of the final noticeable scratches and leave micro scratches. Take your time with this step, and evenly sand and smooth your grill. You are finally working on getting your truck grill looking sharp so now is not the time to cut corners.

After sanding, wash the grill again with hot, soapy water. After it has dried, wipe the grill down with a degreaser once again to rid it of contaminants.

The Finishing Touches

Now you can bring that coveted shine back to your truck grill and make your vehicle the talk of all your friends. Apply your aluminum polish evenly. Then utilize your buffing tool. Keep polishing your grill until the aluminum polish turns black. Once you have polished the entire grill, and it has turned black, wipe it down with a micro fiber towel to remove excess polish.

To get into hard to reach areas, utilize a small flat head screwdriver with the micro towel over it. Don't poke a hole through the towel though. You may just scratch your grill.

With the excess polished removed, you now have a clean grill. To eliminate the fine scratches, rub the polishing compound on your latex gloved fingers. Do this until the polish turns black.

Congratulations. You now have an awesome looking truck grill that all your friends will be envious of!

About the Author

Gregg Hall is an author living in Navarre Florida.
